A Russian ham has asked me for assistance in obtaining a "board
extender" for his FT-990.  Not being familiar with this model
transceiver, possibly someone on this reflector can help me with some
information or the neccesary parts. I telephoned Yaesu and was informed
that a "kit" was available, however they could not tell me what the kit
consisted of with the info on the parts microfiche. I have the following
questions:

1. What exactly is needed to extend the boards for the necessary access
for servicing?
2. Are all of the components in the Yaesu "extender kit" required for
the FT-990?
3. Can the extender be readily homebrewed, assuming it uses commonly
available connectors? And if so, what type of connectors are required?
4. Any unused extender boards out there for sale?

Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.
