[Yaesu] FT1000 Roofing Filter

Was curious if anyone knows of any experimentation in replacing XF2001 with 
a narrower crystal filter, to improve dynamic range performance?  From what 
I can discern from the schematics, XF2001 is a 12Khz(?) wide roofing filter 
in the 8.2Mhz if, ahead of the narrower user-selectable crystal filters.  
Appreciate any info or comments.
