[Yaesu] Fan not working in my FT1000D

First if the unit heated up as you describe it has aged the components
significantly.  The heat came from solid state devices that aren't
supposed to get that hot...prolly a failed thermistor... it happened to
my FT-900 and it was an easy fix...as the component was attached to the
top of the final output transistors with Heat Sink Compound.  Not sure
how easy it is to get to the finals of the FT1000D.

I'd suggest you send the unit back to the factory and have them fix it,
replace the finals and associated drivers.

Find yourself a fun radio to play with while you wait the six months to
get your FT-1000D back.
