[Yaesu] FT1000 Tuning Knob

I was wondering if there was any friction adjustment for the main tuning 
knob of the FT1000.  The manuals don't seem to describe the adjustment, but 
Yaesu service mentioned that the spring was somewhat adjustable.  I was 
wondering if anyone could describe the adjustment procedure?
