Clear DayHi all,
referring to the Yaesu Technical Bulletin TB9606a, regarding troubles in the
1000Mp-ATU on 15M,
wanted to report my experience:
I always had a intermittent problem using the radio in 18, 21 and 24Mhz SSB
only. When i started talking into the mic
on these bands, (ATU switched off) very often the SWR peaked full-scale,
although antenna was OK.
Same problem also on my contest QTH with different cables/antennas. CW
always ok.
Knocking on the bottom left part of the cover, I often could temporally
solve the problem.
I thought about some soldering problems.
A few days ago I took a look at the TB9606A from Yaesu
(http://www.gi0nwg.freeserve.co.uk/tb9606a/tb9606a.htm).
I decided to make the mod, limited to the first six steps + step
9.(soldering the copper braid and tying the cables).
No other replacement, 5 minutes of work.
Surprisingly, my problem disappeared. I tested the radio intensively in the
last days, and never had
this problem again. Also, the ATU tunes now faster on these bands.
Hope this will be of some interest for other MP-users.
