The pilot lights go out when you key the mic?  But, i'm guessing that they also come back on after letting up the PTT?  If thats the case then there must be some kind of a short, or the driver or finals are pulling the voltage so low that the lights dim to the point that they are no longer noticeable from the front.  Not sure whats going on there, but obviously there must be a short somewhere?
