[Yaesu] FT2400 locked up

I pulled my FT-2400 out of my truck when I got ready to trade trucks.
Well I let it set on shelf for 6 plus months and decided to hook it back up.

When I applied power the read only shows 28.000.
I can not get frequency to move.

Hold D/MR and REV button down while turning and
read out goes from 28.00 to 320.00 in 100 steps and the 1
in memory box is flashing. No "key up".
Turn rig off back on it goes back to 28.000.

Called Yaesu and "without liking at it" they thought the battery back-up had
gone bad.
Replaced battery but still same.

As anyone got any ideas ??
