First THANK YOU for your time/help !!
The old battery is dead (.00218 volts)
New battery (3.29 volts) is installed correctly.

What I'd had not done was set the VFO ranges!
After programming as described, VFO is working properly!

Again THANK YOU very much!

Hello Bruce & Carrie, besides changing the lithium backup battery, did
you set up the VFO ranges?, from 140 to 174 MHz?. When first power up
holding D/MR and REV button down while turning on, you may see number 1
blinking (and display should indicate 28.000), set display at 140 with
tuning knob, then press VFO, do the same with the next three (2,3,4 in
memory boxes) at 174, 140, and again 174. This procedure set up the rig
to fully transmit and receive from 140 to 174 MHz, so ¡be careful
regarding your local regulations!. First VFO settings are for RX range,
the last two are for TX range, so if you want TX only from 144 to 148
then setup 3 to 144 and 4 to 148. As another e-mail stated also, if you
solder the battery backwards then it would not retain any memory when
the rig is fully unpowered. Check if it is soldered correctly, but I
think you did not set up the VFO ranges first.

Good luck
