Sorry to hear you had a disappointing phone conversation.
I know its exciting for me to be able to call AES and
just tell them to 'ship it'.  Have you called Yaesu
and checked if they can ship one by way of AES?
Also check if AES has a demo left. Does it have to
be new?  I listened to a good friend, a few years ago,
and picked up a FT-1000D. The cost is about the same, when
the filters are included.  Amateur radio is just different
when there's a 'D' in front of you.  Don't forget to put
the Inrad roofing filter mod in it.  Good luck with your
