[Yaesu] Rotator Controller Problem

Hello All,

I have a Yaesu G-400RC Rotator which works fine. My problem is the
controller. After a period of being on, the dial gearing no longer
functions. The rotator continues to turn the antenna but the dial doesn't
follow the direction leaving me with no way, save going outside to look, of
knowing where the thing is pointed. I can take the box apart and poke the
gears into movement but they are very slow. As I type this, I have the box
turned off and am hoping it will function after it cools down a bit. It
seems like there is not enough power goign to the gearing to turn them
properly. I have replaced the drive belt recently.

Also, after taking it apart, I get a whiff of burned electronics but it's
not very strong and dissipates quickly. The dial bulb popped but still
functions! I got a replacement but haven't done that yet.

Anyway, are there any ideas out there as to why the dial gears would stop
working.

Thanks,
