[Yaesu] FT 990 progress

You folks may remember I bought an FT990 a couple of weeks
ago, and it was shipped to me, then arrived with many of 
the controls on the front panel not working, or intermittent.

It soon became clear that the FT990 was damaged in shipping 
even though double boxed.... it evidently took a hit. 
Fortunately the seller insuraned it for $800, but SO FAR the 
post office has been trying to get out of paying because the 
box didn't look smashed up enough. Some of the employees 
at USPS tried to blame the seller etc. We have had to really 
press the issue with them. Sigh...
I will keep you posted on how they react.

Meanwhile I strongly suggest that if you ship a valuable radio 
that you NOT use the USPS!  They are trying to renege on 
their insurance!

If you use FEDERAL EXPRESS, you wil get MUCH better 
service and they pay up quickly with no excuses, fancy footwork 
and they don't try to weasel out of paying up.
