[Yaesu] Sound Card to FT-1000D - DVS-2?

Good Evening,
I am looking at using my FT1000D on the digital modes. I would like to
keep my interface as simple as possible. I do not want some thing that I
have to plug/unplug depending on the mode that I am operating.

I was looking at using he DVS-2 for the connection. I have heard that
the packet or RTTY jack may not be the best. They only offer a constant
audio out (100-mv @ 600 ohms). 

On the DVS-2 jack, do you need any thing besides the Audio In/Out and
ground? It looks pretty simple to there.
