[Yaesu] FT1000D Tuner problem

Hi Everyone,

My FT1000D has ben working super well up until yesterday, when the  
tuner suddenly stopped tuning anything! Usually, you click the Start  
button, after a few seconds of relays clattering etc, antenna tuned.
Since yesterday, all I get is the motor noise, not clattering of  
relays and the SWR doesn't lower. The antenna I am using is a 40m  
Dipole and its about 1.7:1 on 40mts. The tuner wont even tune this  
now, in fact with the tuner in it reads about 7:1!!! (I realise I  
don't need the tuner on this band)... but I have a multi-band vertical  
which the tuner is required for and sadly it doesn't want to play.

Any ideas anybody?
