[Yaesu] Ft-1000 audio problems after NB mod

Greetings,

I finally got around to putting the FT-1000 on the bench and doing the W8JI 
NB and Key Click mods.  Pretty straight forward.

Reassembled the radio and all seemed to work well.  After spending some time 
with the radio on the air I notice a ragged edge to the receive audio that 
wasn't there before the mods.  It's on every SSB signal I tune and has 
become iritating.

What might I have done wrong or is this a normal side effect to the mod?

I used the small glass silicon switching type diodes as was specified. 
Everything checks out as far as how it was installed...

Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated...
