This is one of my favorite contests, but I got a late start because I was
having upgrades done to my home alarm system that took longer than anticipated,
thus no pre contest snooze. Conditions were good Fri. night and even had Eu
stations calling me. This was a first for this station. Shortly after getting
back on Sat. night I started hearing strange sounds coming from my primary amp
and decided before anything drastic happened I should swap out that amp for my
back-up. Even with half the power Eu's were still calling me on Sat night. It
was sweet! My best ever score in this contest was in 2000 when my final score
was a little over 95K, so it was a thrill for me to top that this year. I
apologize to a QRP station (I think it was a 1)that I just could not pull out
of the noise. I think I was as frustrated as he was. I could get the /QRP
every time we tried, but just could not get the whole call. My thanks to all
the stations I worked. It was fun even for a guy that just became a senior
citizen.
