The "VA" series of prefixes were issued some years ago...basically
because in Ontario they ran out of "VE3" callsigns.

The others:

VO1 Newfoundland
VO2 Labrador
VY1 Yukon
VY2 Prince Edward Island
VY0 Nunavut

Separate DXCC's
CY9 St. Paul Island
CY0 Sable Island

Aside from these are the various "special event" prefixes.
