Comments:

Bruce, W1GQ and I scrambled in October to prepare his station for this contest.
Three weeks prior to the contest,
Bruce finished up the 6/4/4 20M stack, moved the 3EL 40M Yagi from one tower to
another with a 30' height increase,

reconfigured the 5/5/5 15M stack and re-wired the shack to support SO2R. I
upgraded to a Mark V and ordered a bunch of Top

Ten and Dunestar devices to support this effort....everything arrived just in
time with the last band decoder showing up one

day prior....many thanks to Top Ten and Dunestar for their expedient service!

My butt was kicked in this one....congrats to KQ2M, N5RZ (@K5ZD), K3ZO and
others. Sat in the chair for 45 hours developing

better SO2R techniques and re-learning S&Ping without packet....past few years
have been with M/M operations! For some

reason I could not get the rate meter above 110 on 15M despite the 5/5/5 stack
on that band. On Saturday morning I

discovered that the stack switching system wasn't quite right when I pointed the
top antenna to the south, switched to the

bottom 5/5 stack and did not hear EU! I had to rotate the top antenna back to
EU in order to run, unfortunately without the

full stack. 40M screamed, and I found I could run EU fairly well at the start
of the opening....the 6/4/4 stack on 20 proved

to be dominate and as soon as I switched from 15 to 20 the rate climbed to over
150/hr.

All-in-all I had a fantastic time running this contest from W1GQ's fabulous
station and look forward to the next one.

Thanks again to Bruce, W1GQ and his family for their gracious hospitality.

I love this game....

-Shane K1ZR
