Comments:

While operating from home is no substitute for being on site at WRTC, IARU has
always been a personal favorite and was a killer show this year! There's no
doubt that the simultaneous WRTC drew out some extra activity and that just
made it even more fun for all of us. In my 10th year in Florida, this is the
first time I've been able to complete the full 24 hours, due primarily to
thunderstorm activity (rain static still caused some grief and I came really
close to shutting down several times) and in recent years, line noise (which
thankfully was totally absent this time).

Everything came together at the last minute. Mega-thanks to Blake, N4GI for
antenna help last weekend and to Vic, N4TO for semi-permanently loaning some
crucial equipment. Found several blown fuses in the shack beforehand, but
fortunately everything else held up nicely despite not getting much use
recently. Resolved one lingering problem just minutes before starting.

10 Meters was the big surprise here -- worked a bunch of southern EU stations
that were audible for hours. ZL6QH answering my CQ on 160 was also neat.

Congrats to Florida Contest Group members Jim, VE7ZO for winning and Dave, N2NL
for coming in a close second at WRTC 2006 in Brazil! Congrats to Oms and crew
for a very successful WRTC! Following the on-line scoreboard was a hoot.
Missed 5 of the PT/PW stations for the sweep and worked 102 overall.

Funniest moment was hearing guys on my 20M freq sending "5nn14" and "5nnKW"
over and over. At first, I thought it was somebody just hitting the wrong F
key.

My Italian XYL also enjoyed the weekend, given the exciting World Cup result.

TKS & 73, Dan, K1TO
