{SIGH}..............

I was all fired up to operate from Locust Peak tonight and hopefully kick some
NS Butt for a change, but could not find anyone to go with me. If I were
younger I'd pay no thought, but since this is extremely remote rattlesnake &
mountain lion territory, even with my pistol I'd prefer to have someone along
just-in-case of any emergency. The thought of the old pickup crapping out and
having to walk the 1.3 mile road down in the dark simply does not hold much
appeal. So I wimped out.

The real bummer is that my workers and I were up there before 7AM this morning
to put the locks on the 2nd new security gate and get the 5Ghz antenna
officially installed plus test new settings. I just couldn't find anyone
available for the return trek tonight. Hopefully I'll have the full remote
system working in time for the last NS. Thankfully, increasing the bandwidth
to 20Mhz for more throughput still yields basically a 1ms latency factor, with
only a few ping bumps to 2ms. That's pretty friggin' incredible!

Since the fire came down the hills on the East side of me to within 1,000 of
the property, I am very squeamish about going anywhere for a week until this
nasty fire season is over due to the heavily fueled big hills on the West side.
So I cancelled my K6VVA/KL7 & KL8C trip to Alaska which was supposed to give
everyone an AK mult in the last NS next week. Sorry, folks. Hopefully next
year.

I didn't RTFR correctly and thought the No Dupe Experiment was 20m only. After
many, many unanswered CQ's about 0215, I decided to listen on 40m and heard a
traffic jam. DUH! Unfortunately, I take it in the royal shorts on 40m so things
went downhill.

Seems like I ran out of folks to work on 20m, so unless we get a bunch more NS
Newbies showing up, perhaps working dupes may still be the way to go.

My regular NS score to follow is the absolute worst of this Ladder for me.

73 & Tnx for the Q's...

Rick, K6VVA * The Locust
