Comments:
I enjoyed this contest, although I almost didn't enter it. Friday at the start
I had a horredous noise level on all bands and could hardly hear anything.
Only worked 9 stations in two hours, so I went in the house to watch TV with
the XYL.
Fortunately, Saturday morning it had cleared up so I got started. Overall I
had six hours with over 10 S&P QSOs, with a high of 23 in the 00 UTC hour on
the 4th.
I had a failure in the autotuner of my K3, so only a few Qs on the lower bands.
I mostly stuck to 10m, as I could put the ATU in Bypass and use the flat match
of my 5 element yagi to advantage. It is also my most effective antenna, so it
made sense to work 10m for all it was worth.
I was pleased to work Indonesia on 10m for a new country. This is one of my
motivations for entering any DX contest. Doesn't often pay off, but great fun
when it does.
I was impressed with the signal that PJ2T put into the San Francisco Bay area.
I could have rectified it and run a one-transistor regen receiver with it, I
suspect.
All-in-all, a fun QRP weekend. Just enough activity to keep it interesting,
but not enough to force the high scorers to look over their shoulders :-)
It looks like my summer project will be tracking down my noise sources that
keep me off the air at times. Very tiresome.
