Comments:

We were thankful for the limited one hour 6m Es opening Saturday pm to W6's from
NM DM76 and on Sunday the sometimes spotty, sometimes wide open nearly 5+ hours
of Es to W4, 8, 9, and a handful of others from semi-rare DM86. We would have
liked to capitalize more on the openings but our 100w attracted only a moderate
level of attention with occasional mini pileup on CW and SSB - wish we hadn't
forgotten to bring a A/C hook up cord for the THP 500w amp!! No place to buy
one out in the very small towns in the OK panhandle on a Sunday when all stores
are closed. So, we got to trundle around with a generator, full can of smelly
gasoline, amp and no hook up cord! Arrghhh - so much for "best laid plans
of mice and men".

We were pleased that our CW efforts did pull in some weak stations including
several excellent meteor scatter sked contacts with K9CT in EN50(abt 800 mi. -
Craigs fine station was copiable most of the sked), N0KE DM69 (abt 341 mi.),
and K0BJ DM99 (201 mi.) Thanks gents for hearing our FT-450's 100w and 3 el at
20'!

So, we were glad to log about 119 6m Q's from DM86 mostly from the panhandle of
OK working Es stations in states as far east as VA, NC, and SC. On 2m, our best
DX was N0KE in DM69 from DM86 and K0MLM in DN70 from DM76. Closest station to
us was W3DHJ/R who peaked up to S9 from DM87 about 72 miles away. I think our
rover team would be an advocate of some kind of mileage factor boost in points
for long distance QSOs on 2m and up.
