Comments:
Although this is my second best all time score in this contest I'm some what
disappointed with results. Was hoping to better last year's score and set a new
W5 LP record but it was not to be.
I tracked last year's score fairly closely until Sunday morning but then ten
and fifteen meters just were not up to last years production. An A index of 20
had a lot to do with that. Ended up with exactly 300 less QSOs on 10 and 15
than last year and total QSOs were down by 297. Northern Europeans were way
down. Last year I had 41 QSOs with OH, SM, and European UA on ten, this year
one SM7 and zero for OH or UA. The numbers for G, F, PA, ON were about the same
as last year but DL and SP were down by about 1/3. Total multipliers were 4 less
than 2014 and again that was due to ten and 15 which were down by 7.
SO2R on phone is a little tough for me. About 6 months ago the hearing in my
left ear was damaged by a gun shot and I have severe high frequency loss. On CW
it doesn't seem to hurt but on SSB voices are distorted in that ear. I recently
got hearing aids but can't wear them with headphones. The radio's audio can be
run through the hearing aids - I will try that in the future.
Hope sunspots will hold up long enough to get another shot at the W5 record
next year. ARRL DX is still one of my favorite contests.
Congratulations to W1UE and WA1Z and especially to N1PGA for a fine score with
modest antennas. The most spectacular result posted so far though has to be
KB3WD's assisted low power score - 4.3 meg is amazing!
