Comments:

Started with WSJT-X, JT-AlertX and N3FJP with about 50+ QSOs at the beginning of
the contest. This setup appears to have some problems that I had not seen
before with casual operation.

So even though I did not have the software setup, I changed over to Writelog
12.42G and DigiRite 1.1.23 and after installing from scratch, it seem to just
work out of the box (so to say). I ran the rest of the contest in this
environment. I did import my ADIF log from N3FJP to Writelog so I would have
dup checking.

Actually I was very impressed with the performance and congratulations to
Wayne/W5XD and Steve/N9OH. This is not to say that I didn't have problems
understanding the operation of DigiRite since I had no previous experience with
it. But after a few hours of diddling with it, my understanding started to come
around. No expert but think that a few more contests will certainly give me a
opportunity to improve.

Writelog said that I operated about 7 hours. As I say that was operating and
reading instructions on and off, watching the Alabama vs Duke game and the Coco
Tennis match.

I want to thank Don/AA5AU for the great instruction on rttycontesting.com about
the install and understanding some of the operating characteristics, it helped a
ton. Also thanks to Kevin/K6TD for the heads up on how to call CQ in the
program. Made around 100 contacts with it without even calling CQ, so I wanted
to experience the CQ mode, so I ask Kevin and he gave me 3 instructions and it
just worked and was a interested way to operate.

Worked K1JT early in the contest, so guess he was checking his programs to be
sure that it would hold up in the contesting environment.

It was an interesting experience, glad to have participated in the first WW DIGI
! Not sure that I will ever put in a full effort in this or any other contest
in the future, but I enjoyed this opportunity.

Thanks to all for the Qs! Atleast I can say I was in the first one!

cu around the ham radio campus!! 73

Jim/KC4HW
