Comments:

This was the worst and best CWT in a very long time! There is still an
intermittent in the cables or amp. I did what I have done hundreds of times
before - turn on the equipment, load software, set up N1MM+, and check the
bands. High SWR on 40, but I changed nothing since last night. Eventually I
found a combination of cable swapping and amplifier ports that worked on 20. 40
was much better with strong signals and lots of activity. This is where I would
normally go for the 1300Z CWT. BUT, I found the conditions where the
international guys had propagation to the Midwest. Worked 38 DX stations and
USA guys who I would not normally hear. As I progress towards SO2R this is a
good place for a second VFO, but not high enough volume for running on two
bands.

Since last week I finally finished the ground system - 25 ground rods that now
connect to the building ground and come inside the garage for lightning
protection, switching, and filtering. The SteppIR remote board is now in the
garage and there are no cables going through the shack window! I just received
a 30/40 vertical from DXE so I can start to do rudimentary SO2R and have a
backup for when I get rid of the SteppIR 18e.

My house projects are finishing. The gutter guys and tree guys have been here.
We decided to cut down the tree by the tower guy wires as a preemptive move.
Now I can focus more on trying to see what I can finish by winter. I found a
guy who will travel 3.5 hours to do some tower maintenance. It's not progress,
but needs to be done before I take the next step.

Time to see if I can figure out the antennas before the next CWT in 20 minutes.
