Comments:
A couple minutes before the start 40 did not have much activity, so started on
20. Mistake - signals were weak after the first few loud ones. W2MKM was very,
very weak and he is usually easy copy. At 1915Z had 44 contacts, but stations
were getting pretty weak. At 1930Z had 76 contacts, but lots of CQing. AT 193Z
went to 40. Signals were very strong and lots of people. KA1YQC called in when
I was going 39 WPM and he is a CWA guy! At 1945Z the rate was good and had 115
contacts.
I keep plugging away at the 80 meter 4 square. Assembled some of the vertical
elements, but need to replace the upper hose clamps with ones that are more
substantial as they strip out before the tubing is tight. Very windy, but warm,
T shirt weather. One of the final nice warm days left. I did some
investigation on phased beverages and will try that for the NE so that the RX
antenna is farther from the 4 square. Plenty to do!
