Comments:
Geomagnetic unrest occurred several times today
with quiet periods in between, but it intensified
especially during the 1900Z session from 30 to 50
gigawatts. It was a tough struggle on 14 MHz for
VE/W with a few hot spots toward Europe, and the
5Z4VJ signal heard with a typical geomagnetic
evening enhancement. Prior to CWT the ionosphere
was charged with a C3.5 flare at 1815Z.
Started on 7 MHz with ten Q's and spent most slow
time on 14 MHz. It was much busier on 7 MHz during
the tail of the session. I noticed that during Winter
my Loop-on-Ground is much better for listening when
it is covered with the dielectric of a thick layer
of snow. However, these days we are having 25 - 28C
weather. Fortunately not even close to VE7-temps.
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856 CWops
