Comments:

Thanks to Andy K2LE for the use of his station. Friday afternoon, as I was
preparing for the contest, it appeared that the 160M antenna had infinite SWR
across the band. Being a remote operation, there was little I could do. About 4
or 5 hours in to the contest, Andy gave me a call to tell me that the antenna
was mysteriously now working again. After searching around for a decent
microphone to use, I finally got on. Conditions seemed poor, high noise, no
sign of Eu or the west coast. Missed WA, OR, NV, MT, WY, ID, SD, UT, VE7, VE5,
VE4, VY1, KH6, KL7. plus a few on the east coast, like LA and DC.
Participation was down quite a bit except for VA. I didn't work a WV or CO
station until late into the second night, which was quite unusual. The band was
crowded and there were several extra wide signals, which made it tough to find a
place to run. Not many Eu stations, hardly anything from zone 14 or 16. Heard
some stations to the south that couldn't hear me, but there were not a lot on
from zones 6 through 13 either. Thanks for the Qs!
