Being an Alpha owner since November '71 with amplifier PA70-A, serial
number 5, and a 77DX and 77SX, the present runs of Alpha amplifiers
leave much to be desired.
Looking at the earlier models in the 77 and 70 series, you can see the
difference in components quite easily.
Just look at the bandswitch in the present batch compared to the switch
used in the earlier 70 and 70 models and you will note the difference.
To produce those 77 series amps today would cost in excess of 10 grand!
Two things separate amplifiers from the rest of the mickey mouse type.
1. Bandswitch size and Pi-Network coils.
2. Weight of the plate transformer
