The primary problems with the SB-230 are: 1.) It has no grid protection circuit. The grid is easily damaged by load faults or mistuning 2.) It has no surge limiting resistance in the anode. If the tube ever arcs, you'll likely wipe out the control grid. 3.) It has inadequate cooling.
