does bring out the fact that although 60Hz to 50Hz doesn't look that
much - only (!) 20%, it can have a major effect on transformers that are
a bit light on iron. Also, it's worth remembering that most blowers and
fans use induction motors, so they run 20% slower; anything at all
marginal on airflow at 60Hz could be in trouble. Is the quantity of air
proportional directly to blower speed, speed squared or what? - Rich,
this sounds like something in your area of expertise.

I always joke with people that my handheld cfharges up 20% faster in the
US because it's 60Hz; worryingly, you find people on 2 meters who
believe that!
