Here's an idea for folks:  Could you use a lathe to wind coils with?  Of 
course, you'd need to do something to DRASTICALLY reduce the speed of the 
motor, but it could possibly work.  So could using a variable speed drill 
if it is supported in the correct manner.

My hands get REALLY cramped and sore when winding chokes!
