My 1979 Super Glide was like that.  I was constantly adding oil (HD's 50
weight), replenishing either what leaked or what was "used" by the bike.

I had a '71 Norton Commando that I only owned for one year, but I wish I
still had it today (it had the little plug on air cleaner box for Norton's
electrically heated riding suit).
