Way back when G2DAF first published his design (which used 4-125s), G6JP who
was heavily involved in valve design and manufacture at GEC criticised it as
inherently bad for linearity. George's star was not in the ascendent in RSGB
at the time, and for some reason, the 'snake oil' charm of the '2DAF won the
day. Perhaps one question that should be answered is: 'If it is so
inherently good a design, offering so many advantages in low cost, why
wasn't it taken up by the Marconis, Collins, Racals, etc of this world?'
I expect it's OK for CW or RTTY, though.
