Vic, you might also consider the motorola MRF-150
device. 25 in will yield about 150 out. Good gain
and very rugged, but supply voltage is 50 volts.
The Motorola MRF-455 is also very
common, good gain, 13.8V operation. Four of which will
yield about 350-400 watts with about 4 to 5 watts of
drive.
I have one of the Ameritron ALS-600 solid state amps.
It uses the MRF-150
