I agree with Mauri; the choice is often more a case of what is available.
Parallel tubes have a possibility of push - pull mode parasitics, but that is
really a minor matter. Sometimes parallel tubes get used because if one goes
down, you can still get some output - that happens occasionally in military
gear, but again, isn't applicable to amateur service.
More a case of what you can beg!
