I did a little more checking tonight with a guy that is pretty familiar
with all the icoms. He said the first two 706 models did that, but the
706mk2g does not. He said they fixed it, and also he mentioned a mod for
the 775's that most have had done. He had a 775 that had that mod done
before he got it , he said. He has owned all these different models and
did checks for that on them. He said he could find no problem with the
706mk2g that he owned. So maybe it's fixed on the "g" the same as it's
fixed on the 746??? That you don't notice it on your G is a good sign.
Maybe other "g" owners could chime in on their results.... If this is
true, I may reconsider the 706. The 746 sure is tempting though. It
looks better the more I look. I'm not sure this info is true, so take
with a grain of salt..Hoping it is though. MK
