Several posts have referred to reflected power from a mismatched filter.
People have reasoned, "If the output is 3 dB down, then the power has to go
somewhere".  But, it's also reasonable to consider that the source never
generated the power at all because it didn't have enough voltage swing to
work into a higher impedance, or enough current swing to work into a lower
impedance, or the reactance caused phase differences between voltage and
current.
