One further thought, Jeff: a great many amps today use a voltage doubler =
circuit for high voltage supply, but this requires at least two =
rectifiers, and one of the secondary transformer leads would go to the =
center of the capacitor bank, to complete the ckt.and today most amps =
have a "floating " b- , for use in grounded grid ckts.and metering. 73=20

       =20
        I a wondering if someone can help me rebuild a HV Power Supply =
for a=20
  3CX800A7. I received a used amplifier and power supply from someone =
and found=20
  that the filter bank needed to be replaced. I removed all the =
capacitors and=20
  replaced them. The problem is that I forgot to write down how they =
were=20
  connected before I disassembled them. The problem is how the =
transformer and=20
  rectifier are connected to the capacitor bank. The rectifier is some =
kind of=20
  part made by VARO P/N# VC60X. When looking how it might have been =
connected=20
  before, it looks like it wasn't configured for a full wave rectifier =
rather=20
  it looks like some special kind of half wave rectifier with one of the =

  outputs of the HV transformer going directly to either the output HV =
or to=20
  ground. All of the schematics I can find always show each side of the=20
  transformer must "see" a rectifier before it goes to the filter bank =
or a=20
  output.=20

  Unfortunately, I cannot get a schematic of how this power supply was =
build=20
  before. Can anyone help me with this strange problem ??=20
