Most of our ceramics that are observable when operating (4CW250,000B)
glow pinkish when the filament is lit. Same with 20 kV applied and
beam turned on at a hundred amps, but its pulsed at only 10% of the
time.
The guy who saw the blue glow on 4CX15,000 ceramic, what was it with
HV switched off and filament idling?
The ceramic on the Burle super power triode 7835 gets brown over
time, from Xray emission. It looks ugly, but when the thing is heated
up, the brown goes away. I have never seen those tube ceramics when
lit, but with a 30 kW filament, I bet they really light up. Some
tubes have the old Frenchtown pink and some have white ceramic from
various sources, and it is a good 3/8 inch thick - if memory serves
me correctly.
