Bill- Since it is a dummy load, what I meant was that I use it fairly 
often *as a dummy load*. I find it a help when setting drive for PSK31 
and similar digital modes where it is polite to minimize distortion, 
even if you can get away with a lousy signal.
I don't think the "1500" is a power rating, but I could easily be wrong. 
Dissipating 1500 Watts from a small area  is not easy
