Yes, that's a brace. I don't mean to use an auger bit though. If you mount the
PC board where it dont move around, you can use a brace and small bit to drill
holes if your not close to an electric drill. It's just the old name for some
hand drills is a brace. They made two types, one that is straight and handheld
(probably like Rich's), or a hand drill, and the brace itself which I guess got
the name from putting your weight against the end. Both will work, the hand
drill is probably a little quicker as it's geared up in speed. That's what was
used before these fancy electric hand drills came along. If you wanted
precision drilling before that, you had to use an old cast iron drill press
that ran off a belt to a steam engine, or was hand driven. Anyhow, either will
do in a pinch is your not where you have a power tool handy.
