I'm still in the market and looking for a good true PEP reading wattmeter. I
started reading about the Daiwa meters and found that the PEP function on
theirs really flunked to where some were saying it was down right "way off".
Evidently, they don't use a true PEP reading circuit to measure it. Now I'm
looking at two that interest me and am wondering if any here have gave them a
try? First, is a MFJ-868 which has a good huge meter that is easily read. It
has the peak reading function along with average. The power rating is for 20 /
200 / 2000 Watts. I like this because of not having to put on glasses just to
read it. How good is the peak reading circuit that MFJ uses or how accurate is
it? Another is the RadioCraft 3000 Pro which has two 3-1/2" meters pretty
easily read. One meter for SWR and the other for power. This one has peak
reading / average circuits up to 3 kW, and also has everything automatic. No
more turning a switch to set the power level. However, it's about X2 t
he cost of the MFJ. I'm interested in these or anything similar that is
accurate besides a Bird. Bird is way to high priced to me for what they are,
and very limited in function. If anyone has anything like the above for sell,
please let me know off the list. Also, all comments are welcome about the
meters in question.
