I totally agree. The only available sweep tube left is the EL509 which is
really another Russian number, I forget which. Anyhow, the only one using it in
any quantity is RM and Zetagi, and that says it all. I experimented with them,
and they're not nowhere stout enough for the price to use. The only sweep type
tubes that were made for RF service were the 8950 (which seen some military
service), and the M-2057 which was a custom for one manufacturer. These haven't
been available new since the 1980's. To build a good legal limit amp, I'd use a
couple of 4CX800's.
