Peter,
I agree with you, I just wouldn't go to the trouble of the particular circuit
when
one can do it an easier way if one wanted to use a sweep tube. However, as
cheap as the surplus Russian tubes are now, and even the new Chinese tubes,
it would be about as cheap, or cheaper to use them. A couple of 4CX800's makes
a dandy amplifier.
