Fletch,

The subject of cooling fluids was covered in this
reflector not too long ago under the topic of
water-cooled RF dummy loads such as the Bird
Econoload series.

The bullet points were:

1. Ordinary tap water
2. Distilled water
3. Purified water
4. Ethylene Glycol/Distilled water tinctures
5. Antifungal treatments in solutions

Different manufacturers have different recommendations.

W9AC runs a Stanley Steamer and has had that in good
condition for many years, so you might ask him what
coolant he is happy with.

I run a 50KW Econoload/Calorimeter, and use
Zephyr Hills Reverse-Osmosis purified drinking
water and Wal-Mart poolside antifungal treatment
in a 0.05% tincture with no deleterious effects
on conductivity.

Since your rig will probably never be below
freezing, forget antifreeze.

I am in the process of getting a water cooled
GS-15B cavity on line and I wonder if the
group has any recommendations on coolants.
