Best (absolutely THE best) primer I found recently is DUPLI-COLOR self
etching primer.
About $4 at the auto parts place but very worth it. Good for aluminum and
synthetics as well as steel. Builds a nice sandable coat. I won't use any
other now. And, that $4 can is FULL, good to the last drop.
