According to the data sheet for this tube and from talking to the folks at
CPI 
(Eimac) directly, forced air cooling is absolutely mandatory whenever
current 
is applied to the filament.  

I know from personal experience that a few minutes of filament heating
without 
forced air cooling makes the tube very hot to the touch.  It is easy to 
believe that the seals would overheat if this condition were permitted to 
continue for greater lengths of time.

I would much prefer to replacement worn out blower than to replace the 
tube(s).
