I suspect you're correct Carl.

Interesting though....I also do some woodworking.  When power tools are 
considered, look at a table saw.  Here you have a spinning blade moving at 
3600 rpm that is DESIGNED to cut wood.  Cutting off a finger or hand is a 
piece of cake.  Same liability here.

I guess it's just a matter of deep pockets.  I'd gladly sign a release to 
buy a kit amplifier.  What about companies that manufacture HV 
transformers??  Same liability.

Ahhh...the legal system.  We reap what we sow....
