I have newer (2-3 years old) Amperex tubes in an AL-82 and original (1970's) Amperex 3-500/8802 tubes in a Drake L4B. They typically put out 150 to 175 watts more for the equivalent drive of 100 watts than Eimac newer Eimac tubes(1990s).

Does that make them worth double the price? Probably not.

73 and Merry Christmas!

Jean,

RF Parts provides great 3-500ZG tubes and they give a two year warranty. Nearly all of the current 3-500ZG tubes are manufactured by Penta Labs (Chatsworth, California) in China. RFP means RF Parts. In my opinion, Amperex is a very expensive option. Good luck in your quest.
