Doug,
Write down what you do. I had to replace the HV meter resistors in my 6 meter Commander. They are under the RF deck along with the filter capacitors! Commander was never big on serviceability. After that two day adventure, I called it "The Amplifier From Hell".

Thanks for the replies. I checked out the cord, plug and all other obvious connections that I could reach and everything is hardwired in place and nothing loose. It was suggested that it's probably a power supply component which I'm afraid is probably the case. They are very tough to get at so was hoping it was something easy. One other thing I found is some sort of solid state relay between the power switch and the transformer. Not sure how to test it so guess I'll start the research on that
before I start tearing the tank apart.
